North Wales Branch launched

Wales Branch members of the DSWA met ‘half-way’ at the Pantydwr Community Hall, St Harmon Parish on the 3rd of November for their 2024 Annual General Meeting. Chairman David Cope skilfully guided those who attended through the proceedings until a unique item on the agenda was raised. Item 6a. the “Restart of the North Wales Branch”.

The location of the meeting had been selected to provide an equitable meeting point for all members to attend. Given the significance of item 6a it was felt important by the committee to meet almost at the central point in Wales where travelling distance would be similar for those travelling furthest.

The relaunch of the North Wales branch started thanks to several events throughout 2024, peaking with the ‘gathering of wallers’ on August 3rd 2024 at Rhyd Y Creuau. It was clear then to DSWA members that there was sufficient interest in our heritage craft to organise and hold regular events in the North Wales area.

2025 is set to be an exciting year for North & South Wales Branches with two joint events being held at Harlech on the North Wales coast and joint working through courses, website/newsletter communications and other activities.
